Twas the night before Thanksgiving, two student teams both giving thanks for the chance to compete for an opportunity to go against the ever so powerful Death by Roo Roo West. Who would get that chance? Bright and Shiny or Lawrence of Arkansas, there was only one way to decide: CAGEMATCH. 20 minutes of improv is all they get to prove that they are the right competitors.

After a hilarious bit by Toni and Betsy about the first ever cagematch, Bright and Shiny and Lawrence of Arkansas were brought to stage for a good old fashioned coin toss determining who will be going first. Bright and Shiny is first! After another hilarious bit about the cagematch rules by Toni and Betsy, it was game on for Bright and Shiny. They were just what their name seemed, Bright and Shiny on that stage. They were fast, quick, and hilarious, but would it be enough for the victory...only time could tell.

20 minutes is up, it is now Lawrence of Arkansas' turn to blow the audience's minds. They begin with a force like that of the pilgrims taking over Plymouth Rock, letting nothing stand in their way. They too had a hilarious show that kept the audience laughing. But enough. Their 20 minutes is up, it is time to vote.

Unlike voting during the first Thanksgiving where they yelled the loudest, the audience handed in their ballots and the votes were counted. Bright and Shiny are victorious!! They have earned the opportunity to go up against Death by Roo Roo West!!!

GM takes the Challenge

The UCB Cagematch has had a new champion Roo Roo West aka The Moment in the house with a two win streak and tonight they played for a hat trick as we like to call it at the ole' cagematch. Tonight they took a brand new challenger, Goodbye Mailbox was ready to fight from the top, they even came with guns that shot word bullets. This cagematch was going to be a duel, a duel between two improv who want to be crowed champion.

Goodbye Mailbox going first, after losing the coin toss, stepped on stage and started to make fireworks. The audience was waiting for Goodbye Mailbox to hit it out of the park and if you were sitting in the bleachers you may have just caught a fly ball, but they hit it right out of the park.

Our champions Roo Roo West aka The Moment, were one short this week due to Brett Gelman being sick with the H1N1 virus aka Swine Flu, but being a man short wouldn't stop these champs from putting on an awesome show. The Moment was set in an apartment bedroom right after some quick intercourse. The audience continued their twenty power laugh through out their show.

The votes were collected and counted and a winner was determined. That winner would be... and still champions Roo Roo West aka The Moment!

See them return on Dec 2nd, as the champs have thanksgiving week off, but there is still a match Wednesday night, Nov 25th as Bright & Shiny and Lawrence of Arkansas battle it out for a chance to face Roo Roo West aka The Moment on Dec 2nd. This show is also going to be hosted by Cagematch favorites Betsy Sodaro and Toni Ramos.

With a new champion, Roo Roo West aka The Moment in the house, they are about to face some "manly" competition, cause tonight they are going to have to face Man Up! The challengers are coming right off of a month residency at TNT and they are ready to play for the title. The Moment was ready for their next opponent and ready to prove they are here to stay!

Man Up! went first and proved they were ready to walk away with that championship belt, but little did they know UCB Cagematch doesn't have a championship belt.

Roo Roo West aka The Moment, took the stage and once again did their monoscene set at a park near the weird people who play chess all day. Do those people have jobs?

The audience would have a tough decision to face when it came to voting unlike in the 2000, 2004, or 2008 elections, but vote they did away and they determined a winner and still champion Roo Roo West aka The Moment!

It's November, time for shorter days, longer nights, turkey, stuffing, and the most intense cagematch in town! On November 4th, Roo Roo West aka The Moment would take the stage for a once in a lifetime chance of going head to head with cagematch champs Jamboree (6-0). Jamboree on a hot streak can do no wrong in the eyes of the audience.

Both teams came out ready to cagematch! Jamboree going first would have to set the bar high and high they did, making it a tough act to follow. Roo Roo West aka The Moment came and blew the top off the lid by doing a mono-scene set inside a bar during girls night! The audience loved both teams, but what would they do when it came time to vote?

The votes were counted and counted again. Then counted one more time, then Harrison, the host, screwed up and had to count one more time in order to determine the winner for the night. After all of the re-counts the results came down to one vote. The winner will be returning the following week and that winner is... Roo Roo West aka The Moment!

Return of the Jamboree!

On October 28th, our returning champions, Jamboree took on the Challengers Slave Leia. Slave Leia most popular for her role in Return of the Jedi come to UCB to see if they could stop the power train known as Jamboree. Both team battled as if it was a fight for Endor, but which would the force be with? Well after the votes were collected and counted, the force was with Jamboree who will return to face a brand new challenger the following week!

October 7th
Killer featuring Chuck Ford hit the stage. Chuck Ford a Hollywood Bowl enthusiast and improv historian wasn't a spectator this week whatsoever, he was on stage and challenger on new cagematch champion Jamboree going for their third win! Jamboree had a special guest Charlie Sanders stepping in for Ben Schwartz who wasn't there this Wednesday. Killer killed with their set and then Jamboree came on and did a monoscene, blowing improv doors off their hinges. When the vote arrived officially sealed, Jamboree would return as champions one more week.

October 14th
Magic was a brewing this week with Wizard St. Cloud, with former cagematch host Will McLaughlin in the audience it was like old times, except this time magic would be happening. Would their magical spells and potions be enough to stop the mighty train known as Jamboree? With Ben back in the saddle they would have to come out swinging and swinging they did like little kids having a great old time! The audience even determined that their scene that took place at In-n-Out was good enough to be granted cagematch winners!

October 21th
Are you ready for your worse Pudmare? Well our challengers, Pudmare were ready to give you one. Would Jamboree be ready? Jamboree, notorious for winning the coin toss, won the toss again choosing to go second. In a two person vs two person team, each team would build a foundation for improv to be built upon and judged. Judge is exactly what the audience did an gave the crown of championship to Jamboree.

BayBay vs The Champions "The Smokes"

BayBay had an amazing show and left the stage leaving the audience to believe there might be a new cagematch winner that night, but the The Smokes had a time great show by performing the Chosenberg. They used an audience member throughout the entire show. When the votes were counting the returning champions slam dunked that night to return for another round.

September 23rd

Jamboree vs The Champions "The Smokes"

Jamboree came as a very unique challenger, a two person team comprised of Ben Schwartz and Jim Woods. Schwartz a familiar face to cagematch championship teams and hot of an Emmy winner. Woods a member of "The Smokes" could only play on one team, and so he played with Jamboree. The S

September 30th

Gina Gershon (The Teckies) vs The Champions "Jamboree"

When improv team Gina Gershon fell down some stairs it was up to all of theatre teckies to join forces and to do a show that might possibly take down the newly crowned champions, Jamboree. The Teckies took the stage and did a very funny show. Jamboree went on after them to an amazing show. The audience voted and Jamboree will return for another week as UCB Cagematch Champions.

In each show described above, cagematch host Harrison Brown, paraded himself around the stage like a complete jackass, thinking he was in marching band, looking for Waldo, and bringing the show to complete haltering stop with his jokes.

October 7th, 2009

One day in the future from right now, Jamboree will have to Killer. The team Killer features a cagematch legend, some might call a cagematch historian, some might call the guy who gets up during the middle of shows, some might call the guy who drinks diet coke, this man is known to us as Chuck! The Smokes are Blue

Ladies and Gentlemen filled into the seats as two amazing improv teams got ready to hit the big leagues on the UCB stage. Returning champions "The Smokes" have had the title for one week, but their Challengers "Blue" were going to put up a fierce battle against the new champions. Their fate would be determined in a 20 min improv battle to the death. The death panels aka the audience has been assembled, it was show time.

After losing the coin toss Blue would be up first. Blue is made of a tripod of people, three to be exact. Blue was ready for a fight and fight they did. They even used their timeout, which has not been used in many months, during their timeout, Jake Regal decide to take his pants off in order to cool down the hot stage. The time quickly came to an end.

During the halt time switch, the very popular half time game "Where's Waldo" made a triumphant return as Harrison scanned the audience look for exiled Waldo.

The Smokes hit the stage and pulled out their form for the night called "Sleepover" from a bucket. Starting in a sleep over they improvised til their hearts stoo. With a combined total of 7 members they made improv look easy. Would The Smokes be looking at win number 2 or would they be packing their bags, it would be up to luggage department aka the audience.

With buzzer buzzed on both teams, it meant it was time for the audience to go to the polls and vote aka tear a piece of paper and put it in a bucket. After all votes were counted, The Smokes were declared UCB Cagematch champs for the second week in a room.

Next week The Smokes will face Bay Bay, be sure to make your reservation for next Wednesday at the UCB Cagematch.

Pouffff a new Champion!

The streams were raging, the fires were burning, and eagles were soaring, the perfect conditions for a cagematch. Benderdangle on a hot streak, but would it be enough to stop the ole mighty challengers, The Smokes? Only time would tell and that time would 20 minutes a piece in the squared circle.

The Smokes went first, which is nothing new to them, they are usually the first on the stage on Monday nights at UCB. They know how to get a crowd going. They allowed the audience to pick the form they would be doing. the audience filled out ballots ahead of time and The Smokes picked it on stage. "Three Davids" is what they picked and "three david" is what the audience got! The buzzer ended their twenty min "three david" set.

Then it was time for Benderdangle to hit the stage and do what they do best... improv! Playing like they normally do Benderdangle was hitting hard that night. Tonight they were facing some of their toughest competition yet and would they be able to beat their challengers only the audience would be able to determine that.

... and determine that they did. So after two teams the audience voted and that night they voted for a new winner, The Smokes.

The Smokes will be back this Wednesday versus Blue, which will be just as tough of match as this one was. It's anyone's game now!

Benderdangle Times Three!

On Wednesday it's Cagematch and this week we had a battle out of this world! Returning Champions Benderdangle would be up against some tough competition from this week's challenger, Dope Times Three. The most interesting thing about the Dope Times Three is their original name was Dope and then they times it by three only to become more powerful. Well after the teams met each other it was times for both teams to put their dukes up cause it was fightin time.

Dope Times Three would have to prove themselves first, after winning the coin toss and choosing to go first. DTT hit that stage like a horse right out of the gates. They even had a little jockey on top them that's how much they were like a horse right out of the gate. They had the crowd laughing a long and not only did DTT make them laugh, they cared for the audience. Colton Dunn stopped the show to ask a few ladies what was up and he discovered they were on girl's night out! After their 20mins it was more like Dope Times Three night out.

The current champs Benderdangle (4-0) were playing for their 5th win, that's half of ten and one twentieth of a hundred. Although they didn't solve any audience member's problem, they did bring and delivery a very memorable Cagematch. They got the audience on board the laugh train early on. Benderdangle continued to slam it until the last second of their show.

Then the polls opened, there was no free coffee, no "I voted" stickers, no ID required, just the ballot the audience received as they walked into the theatre. Once they voted, the ballot were counted and a winner was determined. Next week Benderdangle (5-0) will be returning again to face a challenger.

Benderdangle Rode the Last Ferry!

With the cagematch Champions back in town ready to take on a new challenger is was time for another Cagematch! Betsy fever had caught on with host Harrison Brown. And with a fever comes a fight... a cagematch fight. This week Benderdangle would have to face the Intercontinental Cagematch Champions "Last Ferry to Hobart." Coming off a hot win the week before Benderdangle would be in challenge. With LFTH winning the coin toss they would choose to go second.

Benderdangle hit the stage first. With a week off would they still have the same momentum they had when they left? Well once they got started it seemed like they had never left. With bam here, kabam, over there, they were right at home at the UCB cagematch. When the buzzer buzzed, it would be up to Last Ferry to Hobart to see if they would be able to capitalize by coming by going second and by capitalizing I mean capitalist style.

Last Ferry to Hobart hit the stage running as if they were running to catch the last ferry of the night to Hobart and we all know that when that happens you are left on the main land and forced to do improv in hopes of earning enough money to get a room at the inn that night, otherwise the gutter soon becomes your bed for the night. Well LFTH played like champions in a very fierce and tough competition for the night. Would their 20 min triumph over the current champions?

It was time for the audience to go to the polls just like the citizens of Afghanistan did the same day. The only different was there were no car bombs, no suicides, and it would take weeks to find out the results to a fraudulent elections. Luckily at cagematch there is no fraud and the audience receives the results right away. This week the winner and still champion, Benderdangle.

Benderdangle had a surprise visit from Colton Dunn at the end of the show with a tough threat to watch out next week when they have to face off against "Dope Times Three" with Colton Dunn, Matt Braunger, and Eric Price.

Intercontinental Cagematch!

With current champs Benderdangle, in NYC for the Del Close Marathon, it was time for an Intercontinental Cagematch, to determine who would face the current champions next Wednesday. Two awesome teams were going to be needed for this Intercontinental Cagematch. Our first team was "Sworn to Sedition," not to be confused with the popular national radio show Morning Edition, although if they did have an improv team I'm sure it would consist of early risers and they would be well informed about current events. STS would have to face a ship that can carry cars and was used a plot devise in the popular 2008 film, the Dark Knight, their opponents would be "Last Ferry to Hobart". With STS winning the coin toss and choosing to go second, Last Ferry to Hobart would be going first.

Now as the last ferry, it needs to load as many passengers and cars as possible cause it won't be back until early tomorrow morning, which means it was time to load up the funnies. LSTH came out with a fast-pace show with tons a laughs. This three man team played right up until the buzzer went off. They played a great 20 mins and now they would have to wait another 20 mins before the audience would be voting.

With the half-time intermission over it was time for Sworn to Sedition to play their cards. STS started by doing bring the heat. With slow burning scenes this team would have the audience laughing hard at the end of every scene. As the clock approached 20 mins STS was on a roll and out of time, would it be enough to become the Intercontinental Cagematch champion?

Then the voting polls opened (Tim Greer walking around with a bucket) in which the audience voted for their favorite team of the night to claim the Intercontinental Cagematch Championship and go on to face current Cagematch Champion Benderdangle next Wedneday. Well the winner would be "Last Ferry to Hobart!" See them next week face the champions and make your reservations today.

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies!!!

... cause it's ladies night and the feelings right, at least it was last Wednesday at the UCB Cagematch when "Harold Girls" stepped up to play the two champs "Benderdangle." With Harrison back in action from Minnesota it was time for another intense Cagematch and this one would be. "Harold Girls" is an all-star team made up of all the girls on Harold teams, but would this all star team but enough to take down the team in town "Benderdangle?"

With "Harold Girls" going first they would have to set the bar for the night. With a total of 10 ladies on stage they started their 20 mins with a bang. These ladies came to play and were ready to benderdangle all over the returning champions. These ladies were ready to rock and not only did they rock, they rolled.

Benderdangle, with two wins were going for their Turkey win that night. They would have to overcome and out play an amazing show by "Harold Girls" in order to stay the champs. Benderdangle did what they do best, they dangled and bender for 20 mins. With Betsy flinging her body all over the place, they had the crowd the laughing.

Anything can happen when the audience votes. America was built on the idea of democracy and cagematch was built on the exact same idea, so the audience voted for the team they want to see back on Aug 19th, and the team that won was Benderdangle.

Next Wednesday (8/12), due to the Del Close Marathon, the UCB Cagematch will be having an intercontinental cagematch. Two teams will be fighting it out to come back and face the champions on Aug 19th. Make your reservation now.

Cagematch via Satellite

Asterios Kokkinos here with your exciting cagematch wrapup! For those of you who couldnt get tickets to this sold out slamfest, here's a report, straight from my cell phone at my girlfriends friends steampunk themed wedding!

Seriously. I am a wedding based on the steampunk aesthetic taking place in Pasadena. More on this later.

The evening started out with your host dancing so hard and so fast that he had to sit down. Then, Harrison appeared on the big screen, and the show REALLY began!

Harrison, via skype from his sister's house in Minneapolis, was in full effect. The two men exchanged pleasantries, but then it was time to get down to business - the business of hilariousness!

BENDERDANGLE and THREE KINGS emerged, and Harrison tossed the coin from another state, with Three Kings winning and electing to go first.

Then, a crisis: Asterios had no idea how to set the clock. You would think he would have taken the time to learn what is perhaps the most important part of hosting cagematch, but nope! He did, however, nail the no luchador masks rule, so give him some credit.

Clock issues aside, Three Kings came out and gave a dynamite performance. They played fast and furiously, editing faster than a McG film on acid. Is that a good reference? Should i have used Baz Lurhman?

Anyway, then BENDERDANGLE came out and started strong and never let up. The newly minted champs fought hard and hilariously, hoping to avoid the ignoble title that is "the one week wonder."

Both teams established themselves so well and played so fast that, before anyone knew it, it was time to count the votes. Harrison broadcasting exactly 1929 miles away joined the improv jam, proving that time zones mean nothing to experienced improvisors, and made the audience laugh as loud as anyone on the actual stage.

In all contests, even ones this evenly matched, there must be a winner. After what must have been an agonizing decision for the audience, BENDERDANGLE hung onto the title. Then, in a mutual show of respect for both great teams, the audience handed out a racous round

of applause.

Benderdangle Takes the Title!!!

In a much anticipated match tonight, the returning champion trying to hit double digits and go for their 10th win, but in order to do so Old Town would have to face a team that was determined to stop that from happening. Benderdangle a team with the heart to win, would be taking the stage. Old Town would be using two substitutes as Brain and Taylor would be out of town for this match. Old Town would be winning the coin toss and choicing to go second.

Benderdangle would need hit the stage running and run they did. Some described they way they took the stage as "the just started runnin' like Forrest Gump." A lot of people who read this are going isn't that movie 15 years old, yes. Not only did they hit the stage runnin, but they also made the audience laugh. Benderdangle finished their 20 minutes strong, would it be enough to take down the 9 time winner?

Old Town came strong and ready to play even with two substitutes. Old Town began to find their groove fast and groove they did. But this time would they be able to make it too that number 10 or would they leave with just 9 wins?

Votes were made, put into a bucket, and counted to determine a winner... and Benderdange was that new winner. Knocking out the mighty giants Old Town, Benderdangle had done it, they had won the audience over, in a bloody match to the final finish. Swinf@n goes swimming in Old Town!

Chapter 9 in the Old Town regime would mean that they would face a competitor like no other, a contestant on fire, a challenger that has earned the name challenger, they would face Swimf@n. In a surprise, Old Town arrived on stage with two of their regular residents out of town and neighbor stepping in to fill that gap and that neighbor would be Betsy Sodaro filling in for Frian and Taylor. Would this give Swimf@n an advantage with or put them at a disadvantage? You would only know, if you had been lucky enough to nab a ticket to the sold out show last Wednesday night.

Swimf@n hit the stage swimming as if they were the sports biggest fan. After a month long of regular performances at TNT, Swimf@n had the stage experience to go up against the best. The audience had to do a double take to make they were watching Swimf@n and not Michael Phelps biggest fan. They finished their 20 minutes with a nice relay race.

After half time, Old Town would hit the stage and with a last minute arrival of Brian, Old Town was ready, and ready they were to take on their toughest challengers yet. Old Town would once again prove they were the champs in this town.

After both had been given 20 mintues to perform, the audience votes and those were counted, making Old Town champs for another week in row!

Zeppo Marx comes to Old Town

Another fierce installment of Cagematch, challengers Zeppo Marx would come and try to take down the power of Old Town. Would Old Town thrive? or would it fall like so many states and city infrastructures left in an economy lead by money grubbing bastards... we'll it would all be determined by 20 mins in front of a voting audience.

Old Town

would take the stage first, the way they like it. They came out of the gate and were ready to defend their

title in the toughest cagematch in town. Old Town started by throwing some upper cuts and some jabs and then went to town... I mean they went to Old Town on their opponents.

Half time = Harrison's rambling rant

Zeppo Marx were ready to take on their mission straight on. Their first objective and only objective would be to make the audience laugh and laugh they did, but would it be enough? Only the audience would determine that fact.

The votes were taken, collected, and counted the audience voice (voice through voting and yelling at the actual show) and a winner was determined and it looks like Old Town is settling in as UCB Cagematch winners.

This Old Town has a Lincoln's Bedroom

Another Wednesday, another Match, another Cage would bring together an amazing challenging team to face the reigning champs Old Town. Lincoln's Bedroom is not a force to be reckon around with, a team made 8 people, they would come out swing. After the coin toss Old Town would be going first.

With host, Harrison Brown nearly screwing their intro Old Town, took it to the stage or as some peop

le might say took it to the heat. Speaking of heat the theatre was super hot on this night, which just added fuel to the fire of cagematch. Once again Old Town had another amazing show, knocking it out of the park. Pretty soon they will have to start performing at Dodger stadium, if they keep hitting it out of the park.

But then Lincoln's Bedroom, hit start and activated the improv show. A team that usually does a harold took a break from it in order to blow our minds. The team comprised of 8 people went scene after scene, hitting the audience for laughs. Would their effects be enough for them to return the following week?

The fate of both teams laid in the audience hands in the form of a ballot, they casted their vote, their votes were counted and Old Town wins again.

Next week they will have to face off against Zeppo Marx at 11pm on Wednesday (7/8). Make your reservations today!

This Wednesday night match would end up being a 2 on 2 battle. With one member of Old Town out of town they would be short would that be enough to win another week? Well Hill Jones would put on their show and see if they could take down the mighty force Old Town has become.

With Old Town going first they had to find their two man style fast and they sure did. Never missing beat from scene to scene. Old town was ready to take down another challenger.

...and that challenger would be none other than Hill Jones, Matt Jones and Dave Hill. Doing a somewhat monoscene that took place in a locomotive, playing different character made the audience crack up laughing, but was it enough?

After the votes were counting using standard counting methods, Old Town would prevail as champs again and would have to Lincoln's Bedroom following week.

Old Town has a Gigilo!

Another exciting installment in cagematch happened last Wednesday. Old Town going for the win number 5 would have to face a Gigilo in order to complete victory and not just any gigilo... Gigilo Puppy! With Gigilo winning the coin toss and deciding to go first, Old Town decided to greet their opponents with a kiss on the lips. Then it was showtime! ... not the premier cable channel but the showtime for two improv teams to face each other head to head.

Gigilo Puppy hit the stage doing a monoscene that started with three characters but continued to get more character, in which they all played the characters. It was obvious from the beginning that they would give Old Town a run for their money.

During half time it was time to play "Where's Waldo" in the crowd. A game where Harrison tries to find Waldo within the audience and yes he found him.

Then it was time for Old Town to come to the stage aka their home for the past four weeks, trying to stay there for at least one more week. Wasting no time, they started to hit it out of the park right after one another. After their 20 minutes it would be time for the audience to vote...

The real question would be would the audience protest for days after the vote, having to summon the cagematch supreme leader to intervein, well that didn't happen and Old Town won again!

Old Town Crushes TAB!

In another heated battle of cagematch, it brought our champions up against a fierce competitor, TAB, whom perform regularly at Crashbar on Thursday nights. It was determined somewhat early on, I say somewhat after Harrison long-winded opening. Then it was battle time.

Old Town took it to the stage to delivered to the audience. Well the audience received and laughed their

socks off. Would Old Town's performance be enough to keep their streak going?

TAB, which sounds and is spelled the same as the soda that was made popular in the 80's come our excited and ready to take on these champs.

Which way would the audience leans towards and vote...

... and our winners are Old Town, back again on Wednesdays at 11pm.

People will be calling this the Nerds and Jocks Cagematch for years!

The audience climbed aboard last Wednesday for another Cagematch aka Power Hour. The audience had their tickets aka ballots ready to see an amazing and little did they know they were right! The returning Champs Old Town were ready for week 3, and UCB Harold team Arts & Athletics were ready to show them who control this town!

Old Town would be defending their title first. Let's just say their population wasn't three, it was was population funny. Giving the audience another twenty minutes of solid laughs the audience couldn't have been happier. Would this be the night they pull a McCain at the voting booth or an Obama?

Arts & Athletics, who perform regularly at UCB on Monday nights at Harold night, were ready to take the stage. They formed a free flowing montage, which is different from their normal harold. Taking a few minutes to get use to a different stage they emerged with bringing the house down with laughs. It's easy to say they were playing to pull off an Obama, but would it be enough to get the audience?

Most voting in this country takes place on Tuesday, but let's be honest the only voting that is really worth a damn takes place on Wednesday at 11:55pm at UCB. Once the audience voted the winners would be crowd and they would be able to ride their victory for at least a week. And the winner is... Old Town, your continuing Champions.

2 Dudes go to Old Town!

Cagematch returned this week with new champions Old Town. Old Town defeated cagematch giants Kill Screen the previous week. Their first battle as champions would be against 2 Dudes in Shorts which consist of Alex Berg and Jim Woods.

Old town won the coin toss and choose to go first. They came out with a force ready to defend. They made cagematch their own town.

2 Dudes in Shorts came out after the half time break to try and do some damage. They kept the audience laughing from the very beginning.

A night to remember it was... It all started by giving a tribute to Jennifer a fan of cagematch who was unable to attend the match due to a busted appendix. As she wished Harrison promised her three home runs throughout the cagematch. After the first home run, it was time to start a cagematch. Kill Screen deferred to Old Town, our challengers to choose and they choose to go first.

Old Town stepped on stage with a presence and brought the house down. It was evident from the beginning that Old Town would be giving Kill Screen a run for the final level.

After the half time break, Kill Screen stepped in to the ring and performed a monoscene. They improv'd their hearts out and everyone knew it would be a close vote.

The audience voted and those votes were counted and Old Town had defeated the all mighty Kill Screen by four votes.

Kill Screen had incredible record of 7-1 in the UCB Cagematch.

As Kill Screen journey had ended, Old Town's was only beginning they would have a battle the following Wednesday against "2 Dudes in Shorts" with Alex Berg and Jim Woods.

A Mystery was Solved Last Wednesday!

Tension were high last Wednesday night as Kill Screen (6-0) would have to take on the crime fighting force known as Lady Detective. Like most detectives, Lady Detective took a bold move by opting to go second in the nights match, which means Kill Screen would be hitting the stage first.

Kill Screen was going for their seventh win and this week they would have to do it without Ben Schwartz, so Colton Dunn stepped in. Chad and Colton took a long journey with blow dolls and Colton even took a dump out of a building. Their 20 mins flew by and left the audience howling by the end of their set.

Then Lady Detective got the call and it was their to solve a crime. They hit the stage with a force, putting all the clues together, to slove a mystery of who done it aka 20 mins of improv. Following Kill Screen, would be a challenge, but could they win the audience over before big vote?

The big vote came, people voted in an orderly fashion and a winner was determine. And this Wednesday (5/20) Old Town will be taking on... Kill Screen.

Kill Screen Takes on Swanyze like Cancer takes on Patrick Swazye!

Two fierce team collided together on Wednesday! UCB harold team Swanzye stepped out of their regular form to take on the Cagematch giants, Kill Screen. The atmosphere was hot, the temperature was rising outside, as well as in the squared circle. These teams were ready to fight! Right out of the gate Kill Screen threw to Swanzye to determine who wanted to go first, and Swanzye took the opportunity to go first.

As Kill Screen was getting ready to relax for 20mins, Swanzye put their game faces on and by game faces I mean improv handjobs. Normally Swanyze performs harold but choose to step out of their comfort zone and montage'd it up! Would the fact that Swanyze was on their home field lead to victory? would the fact that Swanyze was shaken things up lead to victory? Would the fact that Matty Smith has on fairly new shoes that were bought a while ago, but look new and different, but adds to his style lead to victory? Swanyze and the audience would have to wait another 20 mins to find out...

Kill Screen, after doing a monoscene the week before, we ready to show what else they could do and what else could they do... while they did all of their scenes in a bowling alley. Little know fact the bowling alley in my home town was called Oregon Bowl and a little know fact beyond that is that my gym class had a bowling unit, so I got to bowl for gym class, yeah! Kill Screened, played various character throughout there shows, leading to a mulicharacter violent, blowjob, salad machine freenzy!

Then democracy happened, both were given 20 mins to do some improv and then the audience voted. Then the audience votes were counted by closed-source voting machines (Europe and all industrialized nations use open-source machines, so you can track how exactly votes are counted, keeping a good line of checks and balances in the voting world) and then a winner is determined, and this week the winner is... Kill Screen, your continuing UCB Cagematch Champions.

Kill Screen is throwing out some Snapkins!

Kill Screen was back this Wednesday to take on a new opponent, but their opponent this week was a battle that was the equivalent of two mountain smash together. Imagine the Rocky mountain in a fight against the Himalayan mountains and that was what happened on the UCB stage on Wednesday night. With Snapkin losing the coin toss, Kill Screen chose to go second, which mean Snapkin was up to bat. Recently Snapkin won the 2009 Tuesday Night Thunder March Madness Tournament. Beating out 23 other improv teams in one night, but would that be enough to beat Kill Screen. Only 20 mins and an audience vote would be able to tell.

Snapkin quickly took us on a tour of a solo intervention, picture time, and trip to the plastic surgeon. Their time was slowly ticking away as they came back full circle to their solo intervention and then the buzzer rang.

Next up, Kill Screen, four weeks in row they have come out swinging... swinging hard that is. Before the audience knew Kill Screen was in the middle of a monoscene between two co-workers and one amazing burrito. Trust me this was one big burrito. Without a single edit Kill Screen did 20 minutes in the same scene as the same characters.

The audience voted and Kill Screen defeated yet another out standing competetitor, Snapkin.

Kill Screen takes on The Universe!

In an epic battle The Universe took on Kill Screen: The Bonus Level, our reigning champs. With both teams battling it out to see which team would go first, Kill Screen won the coin toss and decided to go first, which meant The Universe decided to greet their opponents european style with a double kiss.

Kill Screen: The Bonus Level was ready to take the stage with some fast pace improv, which they are known for. Stepping in for the missing Ben Schwartz was Colton Dunn and Paul Sheer. Kill Screen came out hitting and hitting hard, but that's how you have to play with you go up against an entire universe! The buzzer rang after 20mins, which meant it was halftime.

After the half time break, The Universe took the stage. Taking on the challenge of facing Kill Screen, they took on an even bigger challenge a monoscene. The Universe slowly transformed into a family that had been torn by divorce. This family even abrevated most words, leaving a real son feel isolated from his dad who loved his step son more and who's mom lived a compound. In this family poetry was considered a sin. This family lived somewhere in our own universe.

Then came the audience vote aka democracy. The vote had been certified and sealed by the UCB Cagematch elections committee... and still champions Kill Screen!

Shhhh, this Kill Screen is a Secret!

Last night Kill Screen (2-0), the original duo came back to the cagematch to defend their title against CIA trained Secret Squad. Most of the time you would know these agents on the streets from anyone else, but last night they dropped their government personas and took on Kill Screen with full force. With the Secret Squad winning the coin toss they decided to go first, which was lead by Kill Screen's greeting of a hand shake.

Secret Squad took the stage as if they were secret mission in the Balkans. They hit the stage with full frontal laughs from the audience. Secret Squad had came to play. With their twenty minutes counting down, they pulled some improv magic out. Would their secret government training be enough to beat Kill Screen?

Kill Screen, the original duo Chad Carter and Ben Schwartz, were back! From angry latte costumers and sitting in the wrong chair, it was evident that they had reach the final Kill Screen. They finished their set by a convict jumping inside of his lawyer and that's how Kill Screen does it.

It was an extra democratic day when the audience voted, due tax day. Luckily no one brought tea bags, Harrison had strategically place buckets of water in non-descript locations in hope of walking away buckets of tea, but the only thing anyone was walking away with was the cagematch championship, which went to... Kill Screen!

Kill Screen the Bonus Round!

Tonight Kill Screen defended their title against hockey greats D2: The Might Ducks. Harrison started the show by playing a little keytar synthesizer. Then out came the both teams. The Ducks quack their way to their to the stage, but when the champs arrived on stage it was a new team, Kill Screen: Bonus Level. With Ben Schwartz out for the night Chad brought in some heavy re-enforcers. KS allowed the Ducks to choose who would be going first, so the Ducks decided to go second. Now let's get this cage going.

Kill Screen took the stage as if they were already on the final level. Going through seemless transition with Owen Burke, Eugene Cordero, and Colton Dunn dominated as skipped their way through the forest. Even without Ben, Kill Screen defended their title to the final second.

Then D2: The Might Ducks skated on to the stage as if they were at the Goodwill games. On a sidenote earlier in the day they were in Beverly Hills pretending to be Aaron Spelling nephews and watched models try on dresses. They also had to adapt to the warm weather of California since they are used to the notorious cold winters of Minnesota. With no time outs, no penatly shots, and no knuckle puck, the clock ticked to zero and The Ducks put on a great show.

Then the audience voted, the votes were counted, and winner was determined. The winner will have to face "Secret Squad" next Wednesday April 15th at 11pm, be there to see you Champion Kill Screen take them on! Make a reservation today.

Fancy Screen

This week Fancy Schmancy was looking for thier third victory as they went up against the combination of Chad Carter and Ben Schwartz as Kill Screen.

Kill Screen would win the coin toss and they chose to go 2nd that evening.

Fancy Schmancy came out and had one of their best shows. Working as a collective group, they dominated with audience.

Kill Screen come out in the second half and worked the audience into a frenzy, using seamless transition in between scenes.

In the end the audience voted for Kill Screen and new champion.

Kill Screen will face their first challenger D2: The Might Ducks on April 8th at 11pm!

The Cagematch Concert!

On March 18th, Cagematch had a new champion in town and they were ready to fight.

The show started with Harrison talking about his love for Dog magazine and his shameless promotion for the UC Bar, in which he was hosting the following Friday. (Really? Is cagematch about cagematch, a fight to the final finish or for shamelessly promoting other shows at the UCB? (Doesn't Harrison write the blog? (maybe?))) Harrison brought both teams out, first the challengers The Spaders, which is Josh Covitt and Jay Hathaway, a musical duo. Then out came your new champions Fancy Schmancy, which we learned they feel fancy every day! and they deserve to, they're the champs!

The show proceeded with The Spaders hitting the stage first. As a musical duo, they mix improvised acoustic guitar songs and improvised scene work, which meld together to form a 20 min killer set and by killer set I mean the audience loved it, not that they played songs from "The Killers" catalog. The Spaders sang their hearts out and played their guitars until the buzzer on the

clock buzzed.

Out stepped cagematch's new champions Fancy Schmancy, which stepped up to the plate, called

their shot and delivered. I wasn't sure if I was watching Fancy Schmancy or Babe Ruth, I shortly figured out I was watching Fancy Schmancy, mainly do to that fact that I don't think Babe Ruth was very fancy, and I don't think he did improv. the audience laughed their way through Fancy Schmancy 20 mins.

The audience then went to the polls and voted, officials from the CA state improv board were brought in to observe the vote. And still Champions Fancy Schmancy took the victory over The Spader, only to have to face Kill Screen the next Wednesday, which could turn out to be their toughest match yet.

Fancy Schmancy won over The Spaders last week (have no fear, pictures and analysis from the match is coming soon) so tonight Wednesday March 25th at 11pm they will face a new challenger, Kill Screen.

It may be their toughest competition yet. Kill Screen is Chad Carter who plays in FAcebook and Asssscat and Ben Schwartz was half of the team Capice which took down the mighty Convoy last year.

New Power in Town!

Every week is exciting at the UCB Cagematch, but on Wednesday March 11th, Fiasco! would have to face their toughest, roughest, and strongest competition yet, they would have to face Fancy Schmancy.

Harrison, the cagematch host, started like normal by flying around the UCB Theatre on a broom stick and spouting Harry Potter reference in which he was the only one who seemed to know the reference. Little did he know at the time, but Alex Fernie, Alex Berg, and Drew Difonzo Marks had given him a few false Harry Potter references. If they were false or not, that would stop Harrison from acting like a little boy in wizard school.

Fancy Schmancy won the coin toss and decide to Firsty Schirmitz which is usually the slot that Fiasco like to go in, but this would force Fiasco to watch and then be the second team on stage.

It was time to get the show on the road, Fancy Schmancy came out with a full brunt force to the head. After the first ten minutes is was obvious that they meant business schiness. The clock hit the zero mark as Fancy keep the audience laughing in their seats. Let's just say that their show was very fancy... you know fancy schmancy.

Fiasco! then came to defend their title and show just how you do a cagematch. Fiasco! was a man short with Justin Michael in Greece eating gyros. Unlike any other show Fiasco! came to play. As they emerge as a band in their scenes, it was yet to be seen if they would go double platinum or not.

The audience voted as the two teams would jam. The official cagematch polling committee had to recount the votes three times, it was so close. It was so close that if we were in Florida, the committee wouldn't have known what to do. (It's never too late for a 2000 election joke) The winner would win would be one vote.

Fiasco! Soar past Soaring Spirit

On March 4th, the current champs, Fiasco! took on one might giant only known as Soaring Spirit in the squared circle.

Fiasco! came out swing hard, with a trip to the amusement, but would this show be enough to concur Soaring Spirit? Only time and the audience would tell.

Soaring Spirit came out started what some might call a power 20 as in the nex

t 20 mins are going to be all about improv power. Starting with a wedding day and taking us where every it would lead, but Soaring Spirit brought it all back, so that the last scene was all about the same wedding couple.

Then the audience voted and a decision was made. The results, the white man had concurred the Indians once again aka Fiasco! concurred their challengers with one hand tied behind their backs.

Fiasco! sinks the USS Rock n Roll

Fiasco! came last night to see if they could make it to five wins inside the square circle of the UCB Cagematch. Fiasco! a five person team would find themselves up against an ocean liner known as the USS Rock n Rock and they came preparred for battle. USS Rock n Roll won the coin toss and choose to go to second which mean Fiasco! was up first.

Fiasco! set the bar high and would make it a difficult act to follow after a intervention scene, where a friend has been using a power glove. Fiasco! even had baby eating waves, global warming can cause anything these days!

Just as Fiasco! was finishing the USS Rock n Roll was headed to sea for one hell of a battle. They ended up going down into the world of Dungeon and Dragons and kitty cats. With one mintue left, they called a timeout, to go find an actually cat, but all they could find were paper towels.

After an amazing battle the show was in the audience hands, would they vote Fiasco! a team that has proven for four weeks they deserve another week as Cagematch Champs or the USS Rock n Roll, who came in like a force and made the audience die of laughter?

The votes were counted, and 100% of the polls reporting, it was announced that Fiasco! had won again for record of 5-0.
